Follow the Columbia River west, in the month of August and you'll find yourself at the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by kite enthusiast tourists and deep sea salmon fishermen. This is, of course, what my family does every year, for ten whole days. We camp underneath the faded gleam of the Northhead Lighthouse at Cape Disappointment. The drab ocean fishing town never disappoints, and we always end up making nostalgic, yet surprisingly uplifting photographs that are as grainy and faded as the ancient lighthouses that guide ships into the Ilwaco Port.
Here are my favorite images from this year's trip!
