No Hurry // Independence Day Fly Fishing

We took off work Friday to head up the North Fork of the Clearwater River in Idaho for some streamer fishing. The only words that come to mind to describe the day have already been sung many times....

You know my old car needs washing
And the front yard needs a trim
And the telephone keeps ringing
And the bossman knows I know its him
And the bills ain't gonna pay themselves
No matter anyway
Cause I ain't in no hurry today

There's nothing wrong with an old cane fishing pole
And the smell of early spring
Sit down in a fold-up easy chair
On a quiet shady river bank
Let the world go on without me
Wouldn't have it any other way
Cause I ain't in no hurry today

Ain't in no hurry
I'd Be a fool now to worry
About all those things I can't change
And the time that I borrow
Can wait till tomorrow
Cause I ain't in no hurry today

All photos are shot with a Canon 24-105mm f4, Canon 50mm f1.4, and a modified Nikon 50mm f1.8 for freelensing/lenswacking. This river is just huge, green cider trees... everything is so green, I had to use the Fuji 160C ++ color film from VSCO FILM 01; and because it was so sunny, I used Kodak TRI-X 400 ++ black and white film from VSCO FILM 01 for its extreme contrast, and faded out blacks and whites.

When I'm fishing, I want to be fishing; I try not to focus so much on the camera gear I'm packing. The key for me is to bring as little camera crap as possible; only the bare essentials to get a great shot of that big trophy trout, proudly held out with a smile. (With the exception of the multitude of GoPros attached to every limb possible!!!) My personal favorite photo from this adventure is of Spencer, my brother-in-law, releasing a monster trout back in the water; you can see his micro spay rod and the dark spots of the beast fish as it swims away.
